The shared element behind these three very different pieces, each of which may be performed separately, is the use of meters and rhythms derived from
the circulation of human blood. From the repeated stratification of tempi arises the development of tempo modulations, which unfold themselves in
refined and subtle melodies. These melodies serve, unusually, as the counterpoints to sounds of friction and stroking and in the process create a
different type of percussive music.
